At Rs 11,000, ‘AAP ki thali’ not for aam aadmi

Lunch aims raise funds for Delhi polls from common man

Lucknow: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is organising a fundraiser lunch in Lucknow on December 27 but it is unlikely that the common man will be able to afford it.

The event is designed for traders, government employees and other common people and a ‘thali’ is priced at Rs 11,000 per head.

While AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal will not be present at the event, his close aides and senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh will be the main guests at the lunch.

Vaibhav Maheshwari, member of the national council of the party said, “We do not have funding from corporate houses and the party has decided to reach out to the common man to raise money for Delhi elections.”

Mr Maheshwari said that Mr Kejriwal had sent an appeal to the people, asking them to join the fundraiser event and contribute for the party.

Members of the organising committee of the fund-raiser lunch said that the party has floated two helpline numbers for bookings for the lunch event and the money can be deposited with the Aam Aadmi Party through cheques, cash, and bank drafts and even through online transfers.
