Kozhikode youth develops secure browser app for BlackBerry

Moosa Meher’s idea has been lapped up by thousands of users globally

KOZHIKODE: In a bid to eliminate the shortcomings of Blackberry in offering cutting-edge apps compared to other mobile operating systems like IOS, Android or even Windows, Moosa Mehar, a budding entrepreneur from the district, has developed a secure browser app for Blackberry.

Mehar’s idea has been lapped up by thousands of Blackberry users worldwide. Mehar started working on the project a year ago and his friends joined him to make the idea a reality.

Christened Secure Browser app, it claims to be the first of its kind that allows the users to securely browse on their BlackBerry10 devices, solving the security issues related to Blackberry phones.

The Startup Village has named it as the world’s first motion gesture-controlled web browser and also the highest reviewed browser in BlackBerry World.

The app till date has over 50,000 downloads, has an aggregate rating of 4.5/5 and is certified ‘Built for Blackberry.’

“Our flagship app has been prominently featured in CrackBerry and the BlackBerry World. In addition, we also bagged awards for the ‘Built for BlackBerry’ competition and acquired a limited edition BBZ10 as a souvenir,” said Mehar.

Explaining the system, Mehar said, “the app could secure details such as browsing history and temporary files, especially when the users handle sensitive information like passwords and PIN numbers.”

“Since my school education, I have been into the computer field building website and apps and hence to have a company of my own was a long-time wish.

We could finally give wings to our dream and Anamega, the company I started, was the result, which aims at developing ideas to determine real life problems and find solutions to them through technology.

Through this company, I am developing many apps and other IT services along with my team,” he added.
