VS Achuthanandan seeks proper probe on attack against Pro Vice Chancellor

Vice chancellor himself had given a complaint to the Governor

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan has shot off a letter to home minister Ramesh Chennithala seeking his immediate intervention and action in the attacks against Kerala University Pro Vice- Chancellor N. Veeramanikantan.

In the letter, VS demanded that a case be charged against the culprits for abusing Veeramanikantan by calling his caste name and also attacking his house.

He said an official of the rank of Pro VC had come up from Scheduled Caste community after a gap of 25 years. As Pro VC, Veeramanikantan had been taking stringent action against corruption as well as the undemocratic views of the syndicate.

“It should be noted that the official had taken action against the Congress member in the syndicate for appointing people to previously non-existent vacancies which has resulted in the attacks. Vice chancellor himself had given a complaint to the Governor, but his house was also attacked by miscreants,” he said.
