Hyderabad: A total of 174 candidates have filed nominations to contest in the local body elections of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board that is scheduled to be held on January 11, 2015.
“The number of nominations filed this time has doubled, as there were less than 100 in the last polls,” said P. Vittal, the returning officer for SCB.
The ward-wise break up showed 42 nominations from Ward 1; 50 from Ward 2; 22 from Ward 3; 33 from Ward 4; 60 from Ward 5; 43 from Ward 6; 23 from Ward 7; and 12 from Ward 8.
Examination of the nominations papers will be done till December 15, and verification of character and antecedents for eligibility will be done on December 17. Withdrawals of nominations can be on December 19 from 10.30 am to 4 pm, added the official.
