Clerics may march to stop mass conversion

Muslim clerics have warned the Uttar Pradesh government to take ‘strict and swift’ action

Lucknow: Muslim clerics have warned the Uttar Pradesh government to take ‘strict and swift’ action against the ‘offenders’ of mass conversion or else they will march to Aligarh, Agra and other places to stop these programmes of hindu outfits on December 25.

The chief of the Barelvis, Sajjada Nasheen Subhani Miyan and Sunni cleric Maulana Ehsan Raza Qadri said that they were ready to debate the issue with BJP MP Mahant Adityanath who has been supporting conversion programmes.

“Conversion would be a theme of discussion at the forthcoming annual Urs of Ala Hazrat, in Bareilly,” the clerics said on Saturday. Maulana Subhani Miyan said such programmes were unconstitutional and serves only to disturb the peace.

Meanwhile, the SP, demanded that BJP MP Adityanath be put under house arrest to prevent him from carrying out religious conversion programmes.
