Vijayakanth’s rescue act comes in the wake of MDMK quitting the NDA

Chennai: DMDK president Vijayakanth on Thursday came to the rescue of its ally, the BJP, which has been charged with enacting a drama by the AIADMK in releasing five fishermen from Sri Lankan prisons. Vijayakanth’s rescue act comes in the wake of MDMK quitting the NDA and PMK founder, Dr S. Ramadoss, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not above criticism.

In a statement, Vijayakanth said deputy speaker M. Thambidurai told in Parliament that India abetted the drama enacted by Sri Lanka by releasing fishermen from its prison.He alleged that the ruling party had taken a U-turn on the Sri Lankan fishermen issue, pointing to the recent resolution passed in the Assembly thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central government for taking steps to release the fishermen.
