Fans throng Maratha Mandir to celebrate 1000 weeks of DDLJ

DC catches in on the madness at Maratha Mandir

Mumbai: On Friday, December 12 hundreds of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol fans thronged Maratha Mandir in Mumbai just to catch the special screening of one of the most iconic films of all times ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’.

The Aditya Chopra-directed film celebrates 1000 weeks of screening, and is the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema. Within just a few minutes of the box office opening both dress circle and balcony tickets of the film sold out, with only a few stall tickets remaining.

One very enthusiastic fan, Swanand who hails from Mumbai turned up dresses as Shah Rukh’s character Raj. He said he has watched the film plenty of times at Maratha Mandir, and would not miss this special day for the world.

The 100 weeks celebrations kicked off with a houseful show which began at 11:30 am. Inside the theatre on the way to the screen fans posed with special posters of the film.

The atmosphere inside was just electrifying, similar to the kind of crowd you would find at a stadium. After a huge round of applause, the film finally began

One of the most adorable on-screen father-daughter pairs was played by Amrish Puri and Kajol. Fans in the theatre hooted and cheered for the duo as they made their screen appearance.

The train sequence where Shah Rukh meets Kajol for the first time in the film, redifined the whole 'boy-meets-girl' scenario in Bollywood.

Fans inside were so excited, they began mouthing the dialogues and singing all the songs from the film as they appeared on screen. Here's a look at SRK's famous dialogue "Bade Bade Deshon mei aise choti choti baatein hoti rehti hai."

Here's a fun fact, director Aditya Chopra was extremely miffed while shooting the scene below, because both Shah Rukh and Kajol were constantly laughing during the shot.

INTERMISSION Main aa raha hoon Simran, said Shah Rukh, and fans just patiently waited for the show to start again.

Raj is back, and the movie progresses to Punjab where Raj travels all the way just to meet the love of his life Simran. As soon as 'Tujhe Dekha toh yeh jaana Sanam' started playing the crowd went berseck again at Maratha Mandir.
