India batsman Shikhar Dhawan joins Twitter as SDhawan25

The cricketer’s handle acquires 2400 followers, first tweet retweeted 133 times

New Delhi: Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan has joined the micro-blogging site 'Twitter' under the username SDhawan25.

The left-handed opener, who is now play in the ongoing first Test against Australia in Adelaide, greeted his fans with his first tweet, saying "Guys I'm finally on twitter! Really excited to connect with everyone on here :).

The message was re-tweeted 133 times and was favourited 205 times. His Twitter handle has garnered over 2400 followers in the first few days.

Before his first-class debut for Delhi in 2004, Shikhar played for India Under -17 and Under-19 teams. He made his ODI debut against Australia in October 2010 at Visakhapatnam.

In March 2013, he made his Test debut against Australia at Mohali, where he scored the fastest century by any batsman on Test debut (85 balls).

In November, Shikhar became the fastest Indian batsman to reach the 2000-run mark in ODIs.

Jogesh Lulla, director of New Media, CSE (sister concern of Cornerstone Sport and Entertainment Pvt Ltd.) said; "We are really glad Shikhar has decided to join Twitter. His fans have been asking for this for a while now and Shikhar has realised this is a great way to connect with them. We will work on getting his account verified to ensure there is no confusion about his official account."
