Extra work hours for schools

Hyderabad: Extension of holidays for Bathukamma and Bonalu has forced several CBSE schools to extend their daily timings and work longer.

Many schools, except convents, don’t have regular academics on Saturdays and have extra-curricular activities, as per CBSE norms.

These schools are facing trouble. Simi Nagi, principal, Pallavi Model School, said, “We follow CBSE norms and reserve Saturdays for hobbies and extra-curricular activities. We have had to extend our timings by 20 minutes.”
