K Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit to Parliament cheers up MPs

KCR goes around Parliament, walks down memory lane

New Delhi: It was a homecoming of sorts for K. Chandrasekhar Rao when he visited Parliament House for the first time after taking over as Telangana Chief Minister.

Mr Rao, who is in the national capital for the past few days, arrived at the Parliament House complex around 1 pm and was received by party MPs K. Keshav Rao, A.P. Jithender Reddy, B. Vinod Kumar and his daughter K. Kavitha at the main entrance.

Later, the TRS chief went to the party's Parliamentary Party office on the third floor after which he went to the lobby of the Rajya Sabha and met several of his former colleagues. Mr Rao was a member of the 14th and 15th Lok Sabha.

Among others who greeted him at the Rajya Sabha lobby is minister of state for parliamentary affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and CPI leader D. Raja.

“I am very happy with the meetings (with PM and other meetings). Certainly, I am hopeful (of all promises being delivered to Telangana),” he told this newspaper when asked whether his meetings were successful.

At the Central Hall, Mr Jithender Reddy hosted Mr Rao to a tea party. Mr Rao had a cup of coffee after which he left Parliament.

Later, Mr Rao met Union water resources minister Uma Bharati and urged her to execute the Pranahita irrigation project as “national project”.

“Officials from the state government and the ministry of water resources will sit together to discuss about the issue in another seven or eight days,” she said.
