Andhra Pradesh rains sops on farmers giving land to capital

The government will issue receipts to farmers soon after they surrender their land

Hyderabad: For farmers of wet assigned land, the package is 800 sq. yards residential plot and 200 sq. yards commercial plot, and for dry assigned lands, it is 800 sq. yards residential and 100 sq. yards commercial plot.

The Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 cash remuneration per annum will apply to assigned land owners too.

The government will issue receipts to farmers soon after they surrender their land. Then, Land Pooling Ownership Certificates (LPOC) will be handed over to them within nine months.

Each farmer will be allotted his share of land by draw of lots in the nearby sector to his village. The government will waive stamp duty, registration fee and other fees as a one time offer.

Old-age homes and NTR canteens will be set up to provide shelter and food to aged persons in the capital region.

“We are writing to the Government of India seeking exemption of capital gains tax and income tax to land owners who part with their land for the Andhra Pradesh state capital,” the CM added.

The government would “act as per law”, if the owners do not come forward to join the land pool, the CM said, implying that the Land Acquisition Act would be used on them.

“Under the Land Acquisition Act, farmers will only stand to lose,” he said urging everyone to help towards building the new capital.
