Amit Shah meets CMs of BJP-ruled states

CMs were in the national capital to attend a meeting convened by the Prime Minister

New Delhi: BJP chief Amit Shah on Sunday held a meeting with chief ministers of all BJP-ruled states and pitched for coordination between the organisation and the governments in those states so that fruits of schemes like Jan Dhan reach people at the grass-root level.

During the meeting, they discussed the Centre's decision to celebrate December 25, which is former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birth day, as good governance day and it has been decided that all public representatives of the BJP—from top to bottom--will spend one hour that day for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious Swachhta Abhiyan.

The chief ministers were in the national capital to attend a meeting convened by the Prime Minister to discuss a proposal to replace Planning Commission with a new body. BJP's media in-charge Shrikant Sharma said the leaders also discussed the government's ambitious Jan Dhan scheme and Shah asked the chief ministers to ensure its 100 per cent success in the party-ruled states.

Jan Dhan Yojana is a step taken by the Modi government towards bringing economic equality in the country. It is a new scheme which not only provides for the families to have account but also offer various profits for them.

Sharma said the meeting reviewed the progress of the membership drive and discussed as to how to make it more effective by enrolling maximum members so that the BJP becomes the largest democratic party in the country.

New chief ministers -- Haryana's Manohar Lal Khattar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar - were felicitated on the occasion.

Parsekar took over as Goa Chief Minister after Manohar Parrikar resigned to join the Union cabinet.
