No need to change liquor policy: Balakrishna Pillai

Mr Pillai also demanded a reduction in KSRTC bus fares

KOZHIKODE: Kerala Congress (B) leader Balakrishna Pillai has supported KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran on the liquor policy saying that there was no need for a shift in the government’s stand.

He told reporters here that his party was for liquor ban which had been promised in the UDF election manifesto. There was no need to open Bevco outlets on dry days, he said.

Mr Pillai also demanded a reduction in KSRTC bus fares in the backdrop of a slash in diesel prices.

He came down heavily on Transport Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan saying, “It’s grave injustice not to give salary and pension to transport employees on time.

KSRTC is now being used to protect private buses,” he alleged. Mr Pillai pointed that the KSRTC bus workshop at Edapal was pledged for Rs 200 crore and the upcoming bus stand at Kozhikode to KTDFC, all due to utter mismanagement.

“All assets of KSRTC are being sold out or pledged to raise money,” the former transport minister rued.
