Telugu Desam takes out rally for farmers

The TD leaders also distributed financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each

Khammam: Telugu Desam legislators of Telangana, along with the family members of farmers who have committed suicide, took out a rally on Friday criticising the state government.

The rally, which commenced at the Kalava Oddu Centre and reached Ganesh Gardens through Yellandu Crossroad, culminated with the garlanding of the statue of TD founder-president N.T. Rama Rao there.

The TD leaders also distributed financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the family members of 18 farmers who committed suicide in the district.

Launching a scathing attack on the TRS government for what they said was its failure to fulfil its promise of providing eight hour power supply and neglecting the plight of the farmers, the TD leaders, led by MLA Revanth Reddy, challenged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to face elections in the constituencies of which MLAs joined the TRS.

Mr Revanth Reddy said the TRS government lacked the guts to face him in the Assembly and the TRS legislators have been told to interrupt his speeches.

Another MLA, Errabelli Dayakara Rao, demanded that the government provide exgratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the family members of the farmers who ended their lives.

He also sought compensation of Rs 30,000 per acre to the crops damaged due to drought and non-availability of power supply.
