Two arrested for posting bogus ads in newspapers

The culprits cheated about 100 people of about Rs 65 lakh
Hyderabad: The police has arrested two persons for cheating people by giving false advertisements in newspapers. They were arrested in a case busted by the Pro-Active Team (Market Intelligence Wing) of Financial Frauds in newspaper classifieds.
The culprits cheated about 100 people of about Rs 65 lakh in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karna-taka, etc. They post advertisements in newspaper classifieds in the names of various financial companies.
The accused are Nalamala Venkata Krishna alias Krishna alias Srinivas, 27, and Nalamala Dasarada Ramaiah alias Venkatesh alias Ramu, 25. DCP G. Pala Raju said the crime team zeroed in on the advertisements given by the accused in newspapers. When they were checked it was proved to be false.
The accused post an advertisement in the classifieds of daily newspapers in the name of a fake company.
"They create websites in the name of a company and upload business plans too. They also advertise in websites to attract gullible customers by leaving a contact number. The customers who contact them are received politely and trapped. They explain them about their plans in an attractive way, deceive them and make them deposit amount by furnishing bank accounts." Mr Pala Raju said.
The accused post advertisements in the name of a company only for about three to four months. After which, they switch off their phone and shut down the websites. They also destroy SIM cards, ATM cards and other evidence to evade police.
The cyber crooks have posted advertisements in the name of six companies, Gold Career, Global Effects, Tiverton Traders, Gain Forex Plus, Money Power Asia (MPA) and Go Forex Easy. Cash worth Rs 1 lakh, 200 grams gold and land documents worth more than Rs 40 lakh were seized from them.
