Official involved in Railway Recruitment Board examinations paper leak

Police sources said accused was helped by an invigilator for leaking the papers

Hyderabad: Machender, a railway employee, the prime accused in the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examinations scam, formed a team comprising Iliyas, Varun and four others identified as Giridhar, Venkatesh, Ashok and Srinivas, who helped him prepare the answers for the question papers.

Police sources said that Machender was also helped by an invigilator (yet to be identified) for leaking the question papers. “The question paper was collected from the examination center where the RRB exam was held, and sent to Varun. His associates, who are tech savvy, played a prominent role in preparing the relevant answers from Internet and other sources,” said B. Pushpan Kumar, Inspector SOT.

After compiling the answers, the candidates in the examination centers were informed. The gang members and also people related to the candidates were operating from the Salarjung water pump at the Upparguda railway gate near Moula Ali railway quarters in Malkajgiri.

“The candidate had an electronic device, a concealed ear pin. The accused, through a continuous call, relayed the answers to the candidates sitting in the examination halls at various places,” said an official.

Three candidates were arrested from the Dilsukhnagar Public School, two from Sri Chaitanya Junior Kalasala in Chaitanyapuri and five candidates from Gowtham Model School at Tirumalgherry.

Officials seized SIM cards and ear pins from them.
