Hyderabad: This year’s Numaish, the annual exhibition at Nampally, will have no stalls from Pakistan. The All-India Industrial Exhibition committee will be celebrating the 75th year of the exhibition this year.
The President of India is expected to pay the exhibition a visit during his Southern Sojourn in December, though before the exhibition officially opens).
The exhibition which is to begin on January 1 and go on till February 15 will have 4,000 stalls. “Nobody from Pakistan has approached us for setting up stalls this year,” said the secretary of the Exhibition Society.
In 2013, activists of the BJYM had protested the killing of two Indian soldiers on Indo-Pak border. Around 10 Pakistani traders, who had set up stalls at the Numaish, had to wind up their business abruptly following the protest.
The committee will celebrate the diamond jubilee of the exhibition and the President has given his consent to visit the stalls before the New Year.
On day one, Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate the exhibition. Interestingly, a phone app is being introduced to help visitors locate stalls and also help direct others towards the line of stalls.
The free app will give visitors a complete picture of the exhibition. As part of the 75th year celebration, the committee will also be opening an orphan school.
