Will probe presence of fraud case accused on yatra dais: VM Sudheeran

Government servants should not collect money for the functions of political parties

Kottayam: KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has said that the party would probe the presence of an accused in the Apple Tree Chit Fund fraud case on the stage of Janapaksha Yatra at Changanassery.

He told reporters at the DCC office here on Friday that KPCC general secretary D. Babu Prasad would inquire into the incident.

Mr Sudheeran has withdrwan an FB post in which the accused was seen sharing the dais with him which appeared on the social networking sites.

He also demanded stern action against an excise department officer who allegedly collected money from the liquor lobby for the yatra.

“Government servants should not collect money for the functions of political parties,” he said.

There was a conspiracy behind the allegation that they had collected money from the liquor lobby, he added.

Coming down heavily on the CPM, Mr Sudheeran said that the party which conducted many strikes for the issues of the people was now indulging in sectarianism.

“This is what resulted in the attack on the statue of P. Krishna Pillai, the founder leader of the party,” Mr Sudheeran added.

The party leadership should introspect and apologise to the workers for creating confusion among them, he said.
