IPL spot-fixing: Supreme Court names, slams MS Dhoni on his role

MSD as captain of CSK and VP of India Cements is a matter of concern, says SC

Chennai: M.S. Dhoni has been maintaining a stony silence on the IPL spot fixing scandal, but it looks like the Indian skipper can’t prolong it any longer after the Supreme Court on Thursday made a pointed remark over his “dual role”.

The apex court said that Dhoni as captain of the Chennai Super Kings and vice president of India Cements is a matter of “concern”. In the Mudgal committee’s first report, the probe panel had questioned another of Dhoni’s conflict of interests mentioning his 15 per cent stake in Rhiti Sports that managed some of his India teammates such as Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja.

The company also looks after CSK’s marketing. During mid 2013, Rhiti Sports that was set up and run by Dhoni’s long-time friend Arun Pandey, admitted that Dhoni owned part of the company for a little over a month when he was skipper.
