Hyderabad: The busiest road in Koti came to a complete standstill on Thursday evening after a rag picker created panic by behaving in a suspicious manner. Panic stricken locals called the police, who evacuated area and checked for a bomb to find nothing other than some clothes and rags.

The incident occurred near the Osmania Medical College bus station around 4.30 pm. “The ragpicker was going on a bicycle with whatever he had picked up from the vicinity, when someone called out to him from the bus station as he was passing by.

He suddenly dropped his bag and the bicycle, and fled. People panicked seeing his behaviour, thinking there was a bomb in the bag, and informed us,” said, Sultan Bazaar Inspector G. Srinivas.

Police suspects that the ragpicker must have stolen some clothes, and feared being caught. “He must have run away because the items may have been be stolen,” said the Inspector.
