Two arrested in pickpocket case

Mahankali police arrested two persons involved in about eight cases of thefts and snatchings

Hyderabad: The North Zone’s Mahankali police arrested two persons involved in about eight cases of thefts and snatchings. About 206 grams gold was recovered.

The accused are Siriyala Venkataramana, 40, a resident of Chakripuram, Kushaiguda and a native of Palasa, Srikakulam district, Barthaki Suresh, 40, a resident of Ambedkarnagar, Ibrahimpatnam.

According to the police, Venkataramana who is a habitual offender commits thefts in crowded bus stops. He team up with Suresh to commit crime.

The accused were earlier arrested by Gopalapuram, Nallakunta, LB Nagar, Saroornagar, and recently from Uppal police station officials.

They are involved in three cases in Mahankali, four cases in Market and one case in SR Nagar police stations. Officials said that the accused operate in gang most of the times.

They target crowded bus stops and pretending to get into buses, restrain the passengers. They divert the attention and flee with the jewellery pouches.
