Stormy Assembly session from December 1

Issues like bribery, tariff and tax increases and new liquor policy may come up
Thiruvananthapuram: Speaker G. Karthikeyan has sought the cooperation of the leaders of all parties ahead of the Assembly session beginning on December 1, which is likely to be stormy. Issues like bribery allegations against Finance Minister K.M. Mani, tariff and tax increases and new liquor policy of the government are likely to figure during the session.
An all-party meeting was held at the Speaker’s official residence ‘Neethi’ on Wednesday as he is recuperating from his liver ailment.
The session, which will last till December 18, will clear the Bills in place of 19 ordinances issued by the government.
Apart from Mr Karthikeyan, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Opposition Leader V. S. Achuthanandan, ministers P. K. Kunhalikutty, K. M. Mani, K. C. Joseph, Anoop Jacob and Shibu Baby John, deputy speaker N. Sakthan, chief whip P. C. George and LDF leaders C. Divakaran, Mathew T. Thomas and M. V. Shreyamskumar also attended the meeting.
