Hyderabad High Court raps RDO for licence scrapping

It criticised the authorities for indiscriminate cancellation of fair price shop dealerships
Hyderabad: Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday criticised the authorities for indiscriminate cancellation of fair price shop dealerships.
The judge was dealing with a batch writ petitions by fair price shop dealers challenging the action of the Kurnool Revenue Divisional Officer in canceling their licenses.
The petitioners alleged that the all the dealerships were scrapped at the insistence of leaders from the ruling party with a view to hand over the dealerships to the persons affiliated with the ruling party.
Pointing out the irregularity in the scrapping of licenses by officials without following the due procedure, the judge said “Officials are here to serve the public, they are eking their livelihood on tax prayers money, they shall not be act as servants to the political bosses.”
When the judge indicated that the court would take serious view on the indiscriminate act of the RDO. The RDO who was present at the court hall submitted that he is prepared to withdraw the cancellation orders.
Following the submission of the RDO, the judge adjourned the matter to Wednesday to pass appropriate order.
