Kane, Eriksen help Tottenham overcome eight-match losing streak

London: Hull City lost another game to make it only one win from 11 Premier League matches as Tottenham Hotspur beat the 10-man hosts 2-1.
Hull got off to a good start as midfielder Jake Livermore powered in from 25 yards in the eighth minute to give his side a 1-0 lead before Hatem Ben Arfa missed a chance for a second from close range.
However, Hull midfielder Gaston Ramirez was shown a straight red card for kicking out at Jan Vertonghen after halftime, following which Tottenham’s Harry Kane pounced on a rebound to level, with Christian Eriksen winning the game from 20 yards to see their side climb into the top half, The BBC reported.
It was cruel on Hull, who battled valiantly after Ramirez’s needless red card, but leaves Steve Bruce’s men just one point and two places above the relegation zone.
Tottenham went into the match on the back of their worst start to a Premier League season since 2008-09, losing a fourth home game against Stoke last time out.
In that campaign, Tottenham replaced Juande Ramos with Harry Redknapp and recovered after a winless first eight matches to finish eighth. Now, current manager Mauricio Pochettino would hope a third win in 10 league matches could prove a turning point.
Hull had been suffering their own Premier League woes, with the defeat at Burnley leading boss Bruce to label some of his players big-time ‘Charlies’. Hull’s problems in recent weeks have been in front of the net, having not scored in their previous three matches.
