1.07 Lakh vacancies identified, recruitment after staff split

The division of employees is yet to be completed

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao informed the Assembly that the government had already identified 1.07 lakh vacancies in various departments, but a clear picture on the actual vacancies would emerge only after the Kamalanathan committee completed the division of existing employees between TS and AP.

“The division of employees is yet to be completed. We don’t know how many employees will remain here,” Mr Rao said.

BJP members Dr K. Laxman and N.V.S.S. Prabhakar had brought to the notice of the Chief Minister the plight of the students and the unemployed, who fought for Telangana by sacrificing their careers hoping that they would get justice in Telangana, but were let down by the TRS government.

“Lakhs from the poorer sections have been preparing for the government’s competitive exams since years. They are incurring heavy expenditure for coaching and accommodation in cities. But, the government has failed to release a single job notification,” Mr Prabhakar said.

Mr Rao replied, “Our government is sincere and committed towards the students, who played a key role in the Telangana agitation.

We will increase the upper age limit by five years to see that they do not lose the opportunity on account of delay in issuing notifications.” At present, the upper age limit for joining government service is 34 years.
