Air Commodore found murdered at his Bengaluru villa

Two bedrooms have been ransacked, but nothing has gone missing

Bengaluru: Air Commodore (Retd) Parvez Khokhar was found murdered at his sprawling villa at Smilee Greens Estate Club, Huskur Road, off Hosur Road under Hebbagodi police limits on Monday.

He was found lying dead on the bed with his hands and legs tied with veils. He was smothered to death, the police said after preliminary investigation. On Sunday night, Mr Khokhar was working on his computer after dinner till about 9.30 pm and then went to bed. His wife Pramila Khokhar went to bed at around 11.45 pm in another room, the police said.

Pramila got up around 8 am on Monday and found her room was bolted from outside. She called her neighbours over phone to tell them that Parvez was not responding to her.

The neighbours, who came for her help, found the back door of the house open and Mr Khokhar dead on the bed. Senior police officials, including Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural) B. Ramesh and Additional Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural District Abdul Ahad, and the jurisdictional police rushed to the spot. Media personnel were not allowed inside the Smilee Greens Estate Club and Pramila and victim’s neighbours were reluctant to share any information.

The couple were staying at Smilee Greens for almost a decade and they slept in separate rooms in their four-bedroom villa, the police said. “It looks like the handiwork of more than two people as the victim was a well-built man and he was pinned down before the murder. The perpetrators came looking for something, probably an important document, but did not get it.

Two bedrooms have been ransacked, but nothing has gone missing, says the victim’s wife. The motive could be rivalry, but it certainly does not look like a murder for gain,” said Mr Ramesh.

“The postmortem report will throw light on the cause of death,” he said.
