CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha may be forced to go on leave

CBI special director Anil Sinha may be given charge as its acting chief

New Delhi: Barely a day after the Supreme Court’s scathing remark that “all was not well” with the CBI and the directive that its chief Ranjit Sinha should recuse himself from the 2G spectrum scam probe, the government is now exploring the possibility of whether Mr Sinha can be asked to go on “forced leave”.

On a day of hectic activity in top quarters of the government, Union home secretary Anil Goswami held a meeting with CBI special director Anil Sinha and discussed the issue. It is being felt that Mr Anil Sinha, the second seniormost officer in CBI, may be given charge as its acting chief.
