Hyderabad: Burglars looted cash and ornaments worth lakhs from former TRS MLA of Chevella K.S. Ratnam's house in Nikhilanagar at Banjara Hills Road No. 10 on Friday morning. Mr Ratnam was asleep in the adjacent room when the incident occurred.
According to the Banjara Hills police, at around 7 am, Mr Ratnam's daughter left for her morning walk after bolting the main door from outside. Mr Ratnam and his wife were still asleep.
“Unidentified accused entered the house by opening the main door. The accused found the almirah key, and fled with cash and ornaments before the family was alerted,” said an official.
Sources said Rs 5 lakh in cash along with gold and silver ornaments, totaling around Rs 20 lakh, were stolen. The ornaments were kept in the house for Mr Ratnam's elder daughter's wedding.
Banjara Hills inspector P. Murali Krishna said that the case is being investigated.
