Vijayawada: The visits of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to Vijayawada and adjoining areas brings smiles to the makers of flexi banners and vinyl boards. It is jokingly said that these people wish Mr Naidu to visit this place even more often to fill their pockets.
The TD representatives and the leaders of the party who want to be in the good books of the CM have been competing with each other to make the most of his visits. For this, most of them had chosen the way of welcoming him in a warm and grand manner through big flexi banners, flags, imposing arches and hoardings almost at every junction in his route every time he comes to the capital city, Vijayawada.
Throughout the 17 km strtech from the Gannavaram airport where the CM lands usually from Hyderabad, to Vijayawada, the Kolkata- Chennai national highway literally soaks in yellow colour with the TD flags with Mr Naidu’s and other leadres’ pictures on them erected on the dividers.
Almost same was the scene in Vijayawada also with a number of leaders and organisations putting up welcome signs on both sides of the roads and at every junction.
Even though the CM stays in Hyderabad as the capital is not ready here, he made it a point to visit Vijayawada frequently. After he was swore in as the Chief Minister, that too between Vijayawada and Guntur, he keeps on coming to this place either to attend government or party programmes.
The number of his visits has been increasing with the intelligence reports that the people of AP are very much opposing the running of state administration from Hyderabad even after the bifurcation. The hateful and derogatory remarks of some TRS leaders against the AP government being run from Hyderabad but not from Vijayawada, added fuel to the people’s resentment.
Mr Prasad of a flexi making agency in Vijayawada admitted that Mr Naidu’s visits are like a shot in the arm for him and others in the business.
