Pilot clicks selfies in cockpit, summoned to explain ‘adventure’

New Delhi: His selfies made headlines for all the wrong reasons. His ‘misadventure’ might cost him more a strict action.

Captain Sahil Arora put up a series of photographs on Facebook with Bollywood icons, Shahrukh Khan and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. He also clicked some pictures with other crew members and put them up on the social networking site.

Irked by his ‘irresponsible’ behaviour, civil aviation regulator DGCA has summoned him seeking an explanation for his actions. Captain Arora has deleted the photos from Facebook.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways has issued a statement, saying that the plane was not mid-air when the pictures were clicked.

"While the photograph does not constitute a violation or breach of any safety standard or aviation regulation, an internal inquiry is being conducted to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the photograph and the pilot will not be utilised for flying duties pending completion of the inquiry," the statement said.

The pilot, however, could face suspension if the photos were taken after the aircraft was prepared for flight.
