Man quarantined at Delhi airport for suspected Ebola virus

At present he is not having any symptoms

New Delhi: A 26-year-old Indian from Liberia, cured of Ebola there, was quarantined in New Delhi after his semen samples show-ed traces of the virus.

The Union health ministry said his three blood samples tested at the National Centre for Disease Control on November 10-13 were found negative, but his semen sample, tested at NCDC and Pune’s National Institute of Virology, tested positive.

Experts said that presence of Ebola virus in his semen samples may have the possibility of transmitting the disease through sexual route up to 90 days from the time of clinical cure.

The 26-year-old had reached Delhi on 10th November and underwent mandatory screening at the Delhi Airport. At present he is not having any symptoms.
