KALABURGI: A swamiji from a math in Chittapur town has allegedly raped an 11-year old girl at the math on October 29. The issue came to light only on Monday. The police have arrested Sri Somashekhar Swamiji of Kambali Math for the sexual assault.
According to a complaint filed by the “public”, the swamiji allegedly raped the girl when she had gone to sweep the math premises. The girl informed her parents on the day of the incident, but they kept quiet. However, some prominent people in the town came to know about the incident and lodged a complaint with the police.
They also demanded action against the swamiji. They alleged that the girl’s parents were not speaking out against the incident as they had been bought over by swamiji’s followers. The police sent the girl for a medical examination on Sunday.
