Thiruvananthapuram: CPM secretary Pinarayi Vijayan gave a befitting reply to CPI state secretary Pannyan Raveendran’s allegation that the CPM staged an “adjustment strike” on bargate scandal.
However, Pannyan reacted to Pinarayi’s allegation by saying that he would reply on Monday before the LDF meet starts.
CPI leaders including assistant secretary Prakash Babu had claimed at the protest march in front of the Secretariat the other day that they did not wish to be a party to the adjustment politics between the CPM and UDF.
Pannyan had then claimed that Mani was eulogized unnecessarily by the CPM and whatever protests that had reaped benefits had been initiated by the CPI alone.
At a press meet here, Pinarayi termed Pannyan’s statement as ‘street speech’ and said that it was made without understanding the importance of the post he held, implying that he had belittled the post of CPI secretary.
Pinarayi added that Pannyan’s allegation that an “adjustment strike” was staged with the support of the government was ‘pointless’. A peeved Pinarayi claimed that Pannyan still had the hangover of having ties with the Congress.
He challenged the CPI that they should make clear which of the strikes staged by the CPM in the recent past had been “adjustment strikes”.
Pinarayi also informed that the CPM would approach court and seek an inquiry against finance minister and KC (M) chairman K. M. Mani in the bargate scandal which is under the supervision of the court.
“The CPM has organized many strikes and has ended it after much deliberations and consultations. We don’t want anyone else to interfere in our business. Those who stated that the CPM staged adjustment strikes should give an explanation ”, said Pinarayi.
