Man murdered over illicit affair; three arrested

The victim and all the four accused are natives of Ambadahalli in Channapatna

BENGALURU: A death that was considered as suicide was turned out to be a murder following which the police arrested three men. Investigations revealed that the victim had an illicit affair with the mother of an accused which led to the killing.

The Akkur police of Channapatna taluk have arrested Basavalinga, Suri and Ravi in connection with the murder. The prime accused Srinivas is still at large.

They have been accused of murdering Venkataramu, 26, and throwing his body into a lake to make it look like a suicide. The victim and all the four accused are natives of Ambadahalli in Channapatna.

According to the police, Venkataramu’s body was found in Iglur dam in Akkur police station limits on October 31. The police had taken up an unnatural death case assuming that it could be a suicide.

However, the post-mortem report revealed that it was a murder and Venkataramu had died due to fatal head injury. The investigation revealed that Venkataramu had an illicit affair with a woman, who was the mother of accused Srinivas.

“As Srinivas was absconding, his friends were taken into custody and questioned. Then the plot was revealed and it was confirmed that Srinivas and his associates had murdered Venkataramu by banging his head against a wall and then had thrown the body into the dam.

Based on credible information, Basavalinga, Suri and Ravi were arrested and they confessed to the murder and revealed that they joined hands with Srinivas in the murder.

He had sought their help to eliminate Venkataramu, as he was not staying away from Srinivas’s mother, despite repeated warnings,” the police explained. The police are on the lookout for Srinivas. Further investigations are on.
