Rs 30,000 crore to ensure afforestation in Telangana and AP

Online applications submission for environment clearance had been launched
Hyderabad: To find an effective solution to the red sander smuggling issue in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Union minister for environment, forest and climate change, Prakash Javadekar said on Thursday that he would convene a meeting between the governments of both states.
Interacting with the media here, the minister said that the Union government had plans for development without destruction and delays, recently 46 major industries were closed down for polluting the river Ganga.
“The ministry of environment, forest and climate change will hold a CAMPA council meeting on November 24 to formally announce disbursement of Rs 30,000 crore to the states to ensure afforestation,” he said.
He added that to bring more transparency in the ministry, online submission of applications for environment and forest clearance had been launched recently and it was a success.
Border roads and all defence infrastructure within 100 km of the Line of Actual Control had been brought under the general approval scheme, he added.
Benchmarks for pollution norms for cement industries had also been upgraded to ensure a cleaner environment and the process of granting permission for forest diversion for all linear projects like road, rail, canals, transmission and pipelines had been decentralised, the minister said.
