Chandrababu Naidu extends PM Narendra Modi’s 'Make in India' slogan
Hyderabad: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has amended Prime Min-ister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” slogan.
Speaking at a meeting of CEOs in Singapore on Wednesday, Mr Naidu said, “Our Prime Minister Modi has given a call to ‘Make in India’. My call is ‘Make in India - Made in AP’.”
On the second day of his Singapore visit, Mr Naidu met with the heads airline operators and discussed about improving air connectivity in Andhra Pradesh. He told them that his government was planning to develop three international airports at Vijayawada, Visakha-patnam and Tirupati and also had plans to construct 13 airports, one each in the 13 districts of the state.
In consecutive meetings, the AP CM joined a round table meeting with the CEOs of Singapore companies with a global presence. He discussed investor-friendly policies of the state government and the potential for growth in AP. In this connection, a film on AP received a thundering applause and a standing ovation from the CEOs.
In his third meeting of the day, Mr Naidu met a panel of experts from the Centre for Livable Cities and reviewed policies on land and transport systems. The state government is exploring models of roads, private cars and bus network for the new capital city.
The CM was invited for lunch by Singapore foreign affairs minister Mr K. Shanmugam.
He also visited the Singapore Land Transport Academy that trains, consults and helps in planning city transport.
Later, Mr Naidu discussed plans to work with the Housing and Development Board (HDB) of Singapore for AP’s public housing. HDB plays a significant role in the urban development process by creating livable communities. Nearly 80 per cent of Singapore’s population lives in public housing flats. HDB towns are planned on the principle of self-sufficiency, ensuring that all essential proximity services are available locally.
Mr Naidu also visited the Institute of Technical Education; his last meeting for the day was with emeritus senior minister and former Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Goh Chok Tong. During his last visit to India, Mr Chok Tong had expressed Singapore’s willingness to develop a smart city in India which could be a model for such developments. Mr Naidu discussed opportunities for the same in Andhra Pradesh.
