Will Hospet get to see Anand Singh

BJP MLA wants bail conditions to be relaxed by high court

Ballari: A special court of the CBI, Bengaluru has permitted jailed former minister and BJP MLA from Vijayanagar (Hospet), Anand Singh to visit his constituency and hold review meetings with departments for three days from November 27.

However, sources close to the mining baron turned legislator said Mr Singh was reluctant to visit his hometown under the conditions imposed by the special court, and would appeal against them in the high court.

The CBI court has ordered that he be taken to Hospet on November 26 from the Parappana Agrahara prison after 11 am and brought back to the Bengaluru prison on November 30 before 6pm.

It has also underlined that he can hold the review meetings only under the watchful eye of two CBI police officers between 10 am and 5 pm and will have to return to Hospet sub-jail by 6pm on all three days.

But having won a second time from Hospet in May 2013, the MLA is reportedly not keen on visiting it as an undertrial under the strict watch of the CBI and stay in a local prison.

He plans to appeal to the Karnataka High Court for relaxation of the conditions imposed by the CBI court and also for extension of his visit to 15 days, according to sources.
