Maharashtra Governor hurt in ruckus, CM Devendra Fadnavis wins trust vote

Congress legislators tried to block Guvs entry into the legislature complex

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government on Wednesday cleared the vote of confidence motion amid pandemonium in the Maharashtra state Assembly.

Earlier, protesting legislators of the Congress caused “injury” to Maharashtra Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao when they tried to block his entry into the legislature complex, revenue minister Eknath Khadse said.

Speaking in the Assembly, Mr Khadse said Congress legislators Rahul Bondre, Amar Kale, Ranjit Kamble, Vijay Wadettiwar and Abdul Sattar “caused injuries” to two legislature officials as well as the Governor.

Congress leader in the House Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil said there was no intention to cause hurt to anyone, but he would apologise.

The motion was passed with a voice vote that was moved by BJP legislator Ashish Shelar ignoring the demand of Congress and Shiv Sena for voting by open ballot. As announced earlier, Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party remained neutral during the voting.
