BJP leaders: Drop Dinesh Gundurao or face protests

The issue would also be raised during the forthcoming session of legislature in Belgavi
Bengaluru: Stepping up their demand for resignation of food and civil supplies minister Dinesh Gundurao for allegedly encroaching upon government land, leaders of the state unit of BJP threatened to launch a state-wide stir to force Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop the minister from his cabinet.
Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar, former deputy chief minister K.S.Eshwarappa and MLC Ashwathnarayana said the next course of action would be decided at a meeting of the legislature party here on November 20.
The issue would also be raised during the forthcoming session of legislature in Belgavi, they added. The leaders alleged that official documents revealed encroachment of 65.7 acres by the minister, but the government had recovered only ten acres from him.
Mr. Shettar urged the state government to announce a minimum support price for onion, and a direction to all sugar factories to pay Rs. 2500 per tonne of sugarcane to farmers.
