14-yr-old sexually abused girl still under trauma

The sexual advances from the teacher started in August last
KOZHIKODE: She’s not been to school in the last two months. She wants to see none except her mother. The 14-year-old girl who was sexually abused allegedly by her teacher at the Govt HSS, Cheruthazham in Kannur, is so traumatized that she does not want to step outside. The threatening words of the teacher: “I will kill you, I will torch your home if you tell this to anyone”, keep ringing in her ears. The once-bubbly girl now stares into the dark, says her uncle, P. Haridas.
According to Haridas, the sexual advances from the teacher started in August last. When he again abused her, she fell silent and sick. It was while consulting a doctor that the class nine student revealed everything.
The next day her mother filed a complaint with the headmaster. From then onwards, the issue ran into a huge controversy with the HM colluding with a few teachers and the Deputy Director of Education (DDE) to save the teacher who was a local leader of the Kerala State Teachers’ Association (KSTA), according to M.Sulfath, an activist and a teacher of the same school. Because of Sulfath’s intervention, the accused, Anil Kumar was arrested.
But that was not the end of the ordeal for the victim. Her name was publicly announced by a teacher through the school’s loudspeaker. Unable to bear the trauma, the girl sought admission in a school nearby and started attending classes. “One day, the DDE and others came to question her about the incident. In the name of inquiry, it was threatening and she started screaming,” said Haridas. After that, she stopped going to school.
Meanwhile, Kannur DDE, Dineshan Madathil said his visit to the girl’s home had deliberately been interpreted as “intimidating”.
