Under fire, HD Kumaraswamy says he will reinvent self

Things should be sorted in another 10 days: HDK

Mysuru: Under fire from his party leaders, former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader, H.D. Kumaraswamy, acknowledged on Monday that there were “some differences of opinion” in the party, but asserted that everything would be smoothened out in 10 days.

He also rubbished rumours that he and his father, party supremo, H.D. Deve Gowda were not on good terms. “We are together and want to strengthen the party across the state,” he asserted.

As for Mr. Gowda blaming the JD(S)’s poor performance in recent years on his joining hands with the BJP, he said it was “irrelevant.”

Admitting that he had taken note of a few leaders making public statements against him, Mr Kumaraswamy , who inaugurated the party’s new office in Mysore earlier in the day, told reporters here, “ It would have been nice if they had expressed their views in a party forum instead.

I have always taken criticism in my stride. Things should be sorted in another 10 days.”

Refusing to take offence at JD(S) leader, Zameer Ahmed Khan’s statement that he had not built the party on his own, he said, “Yes I have not done it alone. Lakhs of party workers have toiled hard for building the party.”

Asked about senior party leader, Basavaraj Horatti’s open outburst against the JD(S) leadership, Mr. Kumaraswamy said post the assembly elections a few leaders in the party appeared to have lost hope in its future.
