Telugu Desam to protest daily opposite Assembly

Dharna is aimed to draw the attention of the TRS government which is ignoring public issues
Hyderabad: Telangana Telugu Desam MLAs led by E. Dayakar Rao staged a dharna at the Gun Park opposite the Assembly to highlight the plight of farmers and demanded Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao intervene. TD MLAs have decided to sit on dharna daily to highlight burning public issues at Gun Park and seek redressal.
The dharna is aimed to draw the attention of the TRS government which is ignoring public issues, especially farmers, Mr E. Dayakar Rao, T-TD floor leader told Deccan Chronicle.
Dayakar Rao said on Tuesday TD MLAs would come out with another burning issue. Besides Dayakar Rao, T-TD legislators Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, Maganti Gopinath, Machireddy Kishan Reddy and others said cotton, paddy, maize and other commodities are unable to get remunerative prices.
Farmers are indulging in distress sale. The government should take immediate steps to help the farmers and ensure they get the right price. In Warangal, Karminagar, Nizamabad or any other market, the situation is the same, he said.
Unlike the first day, TD legislators changed their stance and attacked the government with facts and figures, which were refuted by Chief Minister, Mr Rao.
Interestingly, like the old days TD leaders got regular briefs from TDLP on facts and figures pertaining to power generation, power supply during Telugu Desam rule and after the bifurcation of the state. A TD man shuttled between TDLP and the Assembly to pass on the information to the floor leader and other MLAs from a team of experts and senior party leaders.
