Telugu Desam drama to avoid debate: K Chandrasekhar Rao

Rao said that the government would not run from debating on any issue

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao questioned the rationale behind stalling of Question Hour by the TD when there were two questions on farmers’ suicides and power crisis, giving enough scope for all to put forth their arguments.

He added that the government would not run from debating on any issue in the House and was ready to reply to any question or allegations leveled by opposition parties.

“Every government has some Constitutional obligations like securing the approval of the House for Budget after a debate. For this reason, we want the debate on budget to be taken up as per the agenda stipulated by BAC. TD leaders deliberately stalled Question Hour seeking debate on farmers’ suicides and power crisis knowing very well that there were two questions regarding those issues and enough debate could take place. But they don’t want debates on those issues because it will finally expose their leader Chandrababu Naidu’s attitude towards Telangana. To avoid this, they have enacted this drama of stalling the House,” Mr Rao said.

He also reminded that the government had agreed in the BAC to extend the timings and number of working days of the House in case the situation demanded, to debate on any issue of importance.
