NTPC approves Thermal power project

NTPC would be establishing a 4,000MW super thermal power project for Telangana
Hyderabad: NTPC chairman and managing director Arup Roy Choudhury on Friday said that its proposed entry into coal mining would meet the fuel requirement of its stations.
“Super critical technology is knocking at our door, and we must be the first to implement it. The key to future growth of the company lies in forward and backward integration to sustain its position as the biggest generator in the country along with steady capacity addition,” Mr Choudhury said in a webcast address to NTPC employees on the ‘NTPC Rising Day’.
He also emphasised on the need to be innovative through the introduction of new efficient technologies, which are fuel efficient as well has help in decreasing the carbon foot print of the company.
Speaking on the occasion, regional executive director (south) Venkateswaran said that NPTC’s southern region is poised to witness a quantum growth in capacity addition.
He said NTPC would be establishing a 4,000MW super thermal power project for Telangana. The Telangana government has identified the land requi-red for the project and the NTPC Board have recently approved the feasibility report for the project.
Apart from this, the company would be establishing 5,000 MW power plants, 4,000 MW Pudimadaka Super Thermal Power Project near Anakapalli and a 1,000 MW Solar Power Projects in Anantapur district, in Andhra Pradesh.
Out of the 1,000 MW, the implementation of the first phase of 250 MW of solar power projects would be taken up using domestically manufactured PV modules and cells for which NIT has already been issued, he added.
