Dalit body moves National Human Rights Commission

Rao alleged that the government was being biased against Dalit farmers

Guntur: The difficulties being faced by the government in collecting land to build the capital are mounting with each passing day.

The Dalit Bahujan Front on Friday lodged a complaint against the land pooling proposal with the National SC, ST Commission and National Human Rights Commission. DBF is further planning to knock the doors of the courts seeking justice for Dalit farmers who stand to suffer due to the land pooling proposal.

DBF state general secretary M. Bhagya Rao said that nearly 2,300 Dalit farmers are cultivating crops in 3,000 acres of assigned lands in the 17 villages proposed for new capital.

He alleged that the government offered 60-40 ratio to farmers but 70-30 ratio to Dalit farmers who have assigned lands.

Mr Rao alleged that the government was being biased against Dalit farmers, and said that this was the reason why the DBF lodged a complaint with NHRC and National SC, ST Commission.
