TRS goes to the house stronger, after opposition MLAs and MLCs join the party

Deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah will present the Budget in the Legislative Council

Hyderabad: The TRS government is all set to present its first power-packed Budget on Wednesday.

The ruling party goes to the Assembly with a brute majority as several Opposition MLAs and MLCs joined the party at regular intervals after the 2014 general elections. While the Opposition is preparing to attack the government, the ruling party too is geared to take them on.

Finance minister Etela Rajender will present the Telangana State government’s first budget with priority to electoral promises welfare schemes and developmental projects in the Assembly at 11 am on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah will present the Budget in the Legislative Council simultaneously.

“We are going to present a vibrant public appreciative budget. We will present a Rs 1 lakh crore Budget for Telangana which was once refused one rupee. We really feel happy,” said legislative affairs minister T. Harish Rao.

The TRS’ strength, which was originally 63 MLAs in the House of 119 after the 2014 general elections has now shot up to 72 MLAs due to defections from BSP, Congress and the TD.

The TRS strength in the Legislative Council too has shot up ensuring complete control of both Assembly and Council leaving a fractured Opposition further decimated.

The Opposition is determined to grill the TRS government over the power crisis, farmers’ deaths, one lakh loan waiver scheme, two-bed room houses for weaker sections among other issues.

Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao has convened a cabinet meeting in the Assembly premises on Wednesday at 10 am to approve the Budget and the session will start from 11 am.

Harish Rao said after presentation of the Budget the Business Advisory Committee will finalise the agenda, the number of days of assembly sittings, question hour, zero hour, petitions and other subjects and ensure every legislator gets a chance to speak on the problems of his constituency and other issues.

“We will take every question raised by the Opposition and answer them. We will not run away like the Seema Andhra government. Let us maintain decorum of the House. We will accept suggestions from the Opposition. If needed, I will go to Opposition offices and discuss with them any issue. The Opposition should not indulge in mudslinging and act on the direction of the CM of the neighbouring state,” he said.

Seeking Opposition cooperation, Harish Rao said there is urgent need to discuss farmers’ issues, power crisis and take steps to save farmers and other sections of people from various problems.

Opposition Telugu Desam, Congress, BJP and other parties are at draggers drawn to attack the TRS government and the strong TRS team too are gearing up to hit back.
