Salman Khan's 2002 hit-and-run and Black Buck case hearing today

Both cases have been pending for over more than a decade
Mumbai: The Supreme Court is scheduled to start the final hearing of Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Black Buck case on Wednesday, in Mumbai. Whereas the Mumbai High Court will also continue the hearing of the 2002 hit-and-run case.
At the last hearing of the Black Buck case, a prosecution witness identified actresses Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu in the16-year-old black buck poaching case which allegedly took place in Kankani village, Jodhpur. So far 10 prosecution witnesses have been produced in the court for cross examination in relation to the poaching of the two black bucks.
As for the hit-and-run case that has been dragging on for over more than a decade, a key witness identified the actor last month, and told the court he was in the driver’s seat when several people were killed on the sidewalks of Mumbai.
There have been major twists and turns in the pending case. Previous reports stated that out of a total of 63 documents, 7 original files went missing. The documents were later found in one of the inspector’s rooms and may have been displaced from the record room during a renovation of the police station.
On Sepember 28, 2008 one person was killed and four others injured when a Land Cruise which was allegedly driven by Salman Khan crashed into the pavement outside a suburban bakery in Mumbai.
If convicted, the actor may face a penalty of 10 years in prison.
