Banks use capital to build base

New branches are welcomed by the rural folks

Vijayawada: The semi urban areas and some villages in Krishna district have been witnessing a flourish in the banking sector, thanks to the eagerness of bankers, both public and private.

Places where there were very few or no banks at all till recently, now can boast of considerable number of branches. Some small towns which only had cooperative or Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), now have branches of large banks.

This trend started nearly three years ago, but gained momentum with more and more bankers vying with each other to open their branches.

The main factors for this are growing business activity, enhancement in the purchasing capacity of the people and the realty boom. As a result of tough competition, small towns and panchayats are enjoying swift service, speedy disposal of advances and customer friendly staff.

Whatever may be the motive of the banks, these new branches are welcomed by the rural folks, opined Pasha of Vuyyuru.
