Vikram loses 25 kg for his character's look in I

The actor has toned up for I, his upcoming film

Shankar’s much-awaited Tamil-Telugu-Hindi film, I, might get delayed further.

Vikram, the hero of the film says, “The film’s post-production and special-effects are taking longer than expected. It has very complicated effects. Plus, we are dubbing the film in multiple languages. We are working round-the-clock.”

The film is now being readied for a November-end or December release. But if Vikram and his director are not fully satisfied with the progress, the release might be further delayed.

“We are in no hurry. Nor are we competing with any other film,” says Vikram, perhaps hinting at reports that the makers did not want I to clash with the Rajinikanth starrer Lingaa, which opens in December.

Ever since the first look and trailer of I was released, there has been a lot of interest in the film, especially about Vikram’s monstrous look.

The actor lost nearly 25 kg to look the part and his fans, friends and well-wishers were alarmed. There even came a time when he simply stopped meeting people. “I couldn’t go on explaining to them that this was just for a film I was doing. People thought I was unwell.

They wouldn’t be willing to accept that this was for a role. So they would gasp and say, ‘What has happened to you? Is there anything we can do?’ I just switched off my phone and stopped meeting people,” says Vikram who is known to have gone to great lengths to bring credibility to his roles in the past.

I is also being readied for a release in Hindi. This would be the star’s second Hindi release after David.
