Vasan wants to bring back golden age of Kamaraj

Former Union Shipping Minister's to reflect the mood of the people in Tamil Nadu
Coimbatore/Salem: Having given enough indications of splitting from the Congress, former Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan said that his next course of action will reflect the mood and aspirations of the people in Tamil Nadu. “I had been holding discussions to elicit the views of supporters and leaders on my next course of action. The decision will be announced tomorrow (Monday) afternoon in Chennai. Our goal is to gain confidence of people and strive to fulfil our ambitions in future. We will tread the path of late Congress leaders Kamarajar and Moopanar,” he said.
However, Vasan, who is apparently upset over the party high command accepting Gnandesikan’s resignation and appointing his rival and former union minister EVKS Elangovan as TNCC president, refused to give a direct reply on reviving the erstwhile TMC floated by his father Moopanar.“All the party workers and leaders whom I spoke to had pitched for bringing back the golden era of Kamaraj rule and G K Moopanar,” he said. Replying to a query on an invite from Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan to join the saffron party, Vasan termed it as wrong information.
Vasan had stated in Chennai on Saturday that the actions of the AICC over the last few years have been against the sentiments of party workers and people of the state. Meanwhile, around 30 supporters of GK Vasan led by KS Ragunandakumar, youth wing congress president from Omalur Assembly constituency in Salem had sent their resignation to the AICC office.
In a show of affection, they also brought down the Congress flag from a pole near Omalur bus stand and instead hoisted the flag of Tamil Maanila Congress. His supporters also lighted crackers and distributed sweets to the public. “We hope that our leader will announce the revival of TMC on Monday in Chennai. Hence we have resigned our posts and lent our support to him. We are bound to obey his orders,” said Ragunandakumar
